He obtained a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Ile-Ife in 1985 and is a member of Society of Petroleum Engineers International and Nigeria Society Of Engineers.

Though he was born into a Christian family, he succumbed to peer influences and tried some vices that were alien to him, for which he felt very terrible. His decision to join Victory Baptist Church Port Harcourt in 1994 provided the opportunity for spiritual reawakening and nurture, which he had long yearned for. He yielded his life to the Lord Jesus Christ in May 1995 and was subsequently baptized in March 1996 after completing the Follow the Master discipleship Course.

He is married to Oluwatoyin and the marriage is blessed with two girls and two boys, Mosun, ‘Tife, Emmanuel and Joshua.
